International Flower Festival

The northern state of Sikkim celebrates the World Flower Festival. It goes without saying that the biggest draw is the flower exhibition. It happens at the Flower Expo Center or next to the White Hall Complex.

Reason

It is sponsored by the Sikkim government’s tourism department and attempts to highlight the many different flower species that can be found there. Food vendors are also set up to draw visitors from all over the world.

History

The Goyang Korea Flower Exhibition was the precursor to the festival, which debuted in 1991 and ran annually until 1996. The Goyang International Flower Festival took place every three years from 1997 until 2012. It has resumed being hosted annually as of 2013. Since then, it has drawn 5.7 million visitors and developed into one of Korea’s most renowned international flower festivals.

Holiday time

During Sikkim’s peak blossoming season in the summer (April/May), this Flower Festival is held. The Sikkim horticultural marvels are at their peak during these months. The location is close to White Hall, not far from Gangtok, the Sikkim capital.

Venues

Ilsan Lake Park

The largest man-made lake in East Asia is located in Ilsan Lake Park. The path can be travelled on a bicycle or while taking in weekend concerts and events.

Lafesta

Lafesta is the largest urban entertainment centre mall in Korea and the largest street-themed shopping centre. Lafesta is a high-end retail mall including a movie theatre, fashion boutiques, food court, themed café, game area, record store, book store, and beauty salon among its facilities.

Onemount

The complex-cultural centre Onemount includes two basement levels and nine storeys above ground. It is among the largest shopping malls in Goyang. It includes a sports club, a water park, a snow park, and commercial centres. Every day of the year, the water park and snow park are open. It is close to Ilsan Lake Park and KINTEX and has 125 shopping centres.
